The Yazu story has been woven into the fabric of Christchurch’s beauty scene over 30 years.

Yazu was founded by Kaye in 1989 to create a luxury experience with highly skilled and trained staff. Over the years Yazu has been an award winning Salon, and today Yazu continues to upskill , educate and deliver the best in knowledge and experience.

Where We're Going

Staying at the top of our game with contemporary and progressive styling and colour takes work. Regular training to learn new trends and techniques is a crucial part of our Yazu culture. As we embrace Christchurch's new look, we aim to provide constantly fresh styles to keep our clients feeling special and beautiful.

Our increasing focus on environmentally sustainable salon practices is important for our business, our clients, and our planet. As a Kérastase Ambassador, we're proud to use products made in a production plant with a carbon neutral footprint since 2015.

L'oréal Professional is all cruelty-free with no testing on animals since 1989.

We stock Pureology, which is a 100% Vegan range.

Davines which is all sustainably sourced on site in Italy or from surrounding areas, and all packaging is environmentally friendly and can be reused because its made of food grade plastic. We recycle our packaging, use a proper coffee machine (no pods for us!)

Coming to Yazu is more than 'getting your hair done'. Upon arrival, we invite you to take a breath and enjoy all the facilities we offer to ensure that your visit is relaxing and luxurious. 

Our luxury hair salon has the latest technology in treatments and offers you a bespoke menu to suit any and all hair needs.

    Unwind with a barista coffee, an invigorating T2 tea, or our signature fruit infused spring water. Enjoy a dedicate piece of Finn's fudge with our hot drinks for a little indulgence. 

  • Relaxation

    Our head massage techniques are straight from the experts at Kerastase and promote circulation in the scalp which helps keep the blood flowing to the follicles and keeps the oils and nutrients in healthy supply. 

  • Courtyard

    Relax in our courtyard before or after your treatment, or while your colour processes. Our water feature offers tranquility along with our comfortable outdoor furniture that is perfect for flicking through a magazine. Our clients who have chemical sensitivities enjoy the courtyard for getting some fresh air. 

  • Wellness Library

    Along with our extensive range of quality magazines, we also offer a small library of wellness books including those by Dr Libby and other well known authors. 

  • Continuity of Care

    We maintain accurate records so that your journey with us is documented. At any time, we can recreate a favourite look we've done for you in the past.
